1﹒ TP-21B insulation resistance test

2﹒ Purpose

   The purpose of this procedure is a standard test method for evaluating the insulation resistance of electrical connectors.

3﹒ Summary

    The test method used to determine the resistance of the insulating material and the resistance of various sealing ring for using generating leakage current through sealing ring or sealing surface. This method is particularly applied in determining some decisive factors of affecting insulativity, such as heat, humidity, contaminants or volatile material.

4﹒ Sample preparation

4.1  Test sample should include mating plugs, convenience receptacles or plugs, sockets and contacts, and appropriate accessories.

4.2  Samples should be elected from official product, the test sample should not be affected by their operations outside of the material. When the need for special preparation or specific conditions, it should be described in detail﹒

4.3  Unless otherwise specified, testing sample should be carried out under a recognized condition. If the test leads are soldered on the endpoint, weld and its surrounding areas should be clean. If special cleaning required, the assembly should adopt appropriate methods to clean, cleaned with distilled water, very wet, placed in a constant temperature of 35 ℃ ± 5 ℃ oven for 2 hours, 30 minutes later cooled in air to prepare for the test.

5﹒ Test Method

5.1  Test Equipment

     The measurement of insulation resistance should be used a suitable instrument such as megohms bridge, tramegger, insulation resistance or other suitable instrument to test the characteristics of the components. Voltage source should provide a stable DC voltage of 500V ± 10%. The Precision of measuring instruments should within ± 5% in use in all range limits. 5.2  Test Procedure

Insulation resistance should be measured betwee the recent contacts, the contact between the connector cover or installation disk or between all included. Unless otherwise indicated, you should be measured at least every six values ​​(three contacts / three contact shell points / Three contact chassis points), or 10% of the measurement contacts. The insulation resistance of the connector contact points in the same position when using each time should be measured. In addition to special requirements, DC test voltage is 500V ± 10%.

5.3  Electrification time

5.4  Warning

5.5  Final test
